tools for better co-parts is a collection of useful digital tools for participatory and co-ways of working

  • A tool is something that helps someone do or make something.

Our tools are made to help you work in participatory and co-ways better.

  • We want as many people as possible to find and use these tools to improve their practice.

They are all free to use and share under the terms of creative commons licence.

    This means :

We encourage you to share this material widely.

You must give appropriate credit, link to the licence, and state if you made changes.

You may do so in any reasonable manner but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

You may not use the material for commercial purposes.

  • In simple terms, it’s when you involve the people who are impacted by your work in meaningful ways in an effort to build or improve things.

  • A place to find up to date digital tools to help you work with people and communities better.

You can find the tools here.

  • There’s ever growing recognition that people and communities should always be at the table and involved in decisions that affect them.

But not so many practical tools available to help teams and organisations put those words into meaningful action.

Tools for Better Co-Parts hopes to help by sharing free, up-to-date tools that can everyone can use.

    You can find them here

  • All tools for better tools must bring the principles and promises of current best practice guidelines, frameworks, standards and evidence based ways of working into action

We reference the resources each tool builds on.

Every year, we will sense-check each tool with a review crew to make sure that they stay useful and in line with best practice.

  • Tools for Better Co-Parts was founded in 2024 by the Better Together Collective.

We hear lots of claims and promises of words like co-design and collaboration but we know that in many cases there’s room to do better.

We see many frameworks and strategies but not so many practical tools to bring them to life.

We want to see these ways of working flourish as everyday practice.

So we decided to build a virtual toolbox of useful, up-to-date tools that can guide more organisations and teams to work towards better practice and outcomes.

We believe that together we can build better seats at better tables.

    Big Thanks:

  • Coming soon - an official review crew

A group of likeminded friends of participatory and co-ways of working who practice these approaches every day in their respective roles.

Bringing lessons, deep expertise and extensive community networks from a mix of backgrounds and life experiences to the virtual table.

They’ll get together every year to review all the tools to make sure they’re up to date with current standards and practice, still relevant and user friendly.

  • Tools for Better is a work in progress.

Please help us create a wave of change in shared understanding and consistency of practice when it comes to engaging and working with people and communities in meaningful ways.

We’ve listed some ways that you can get involved here.
